Botanical Art Workshops
If you are interested in any of the classes, please do contact Karen for more information, but you may need to book directly through the workshop venue.
Working directly from the subject, Karen will guide you through observational drawing and watercolour techniques to create a finished illustration that reflects a botanical understanding of your subject and captures the beauty of the plant.
Sometimes Karen will ease you into the workshop with some playful drawing exercises or fun watercolour techniques. Leading on from this, through a little bit of botany exploration, she will guide and support you to create a detailed observational drawing, sometimes using pen work to show shadow through the ‘stippling’ technique. With one to one support and class demonstrations, you will experiment with watercolour techniques and accurate colour mixing to paint your chosen flower.
During the session you will familiarize yourself with the materials and tools needed for botanical art and the techniques used, slowly building up layers of paint to create luminosity and depth.
All abilities welcome.

Private Workshops
Would you like to have a workshop held in your own home with a group of your friends and family?. I can come to you. On a date that suits you.
I will bring all the materials needed, you just provide the venue and hot drinks! Up to 10 people, as long as you have enough table space. I will need an area to demonstrate from too.
Get in touch to discuss what botanical subject you would like to be the focus. This will depend on the season, but some plants can be accessed all year round. Choose between working with just watercolour or pen and watercolour together.
3 hour workshop - £180 + £5 materials per person + travel expenses.
5 hour workshop (including approx. 30 minute lunch break) - £240 + £5 materials per person + travel expenses
Travel expenses are approx. £30 per hour of driving.
